To whom it may concern on the the Left:
I was homeschooled till fifth grade when and I went to public school in one of the bluest states in America. I am Christian. Please stop painting me as a bigot and accusing me of making blanket statements against all Muslims.
When I was in school I made several friends - most of my closest friends were Muslim. Because I saw that they had much more faith than many of Catholics in my school and I respected that. Despite the 9/11 terror attacks I did not shy away from Muslims or treat them as terrorists. I recognized and still recognize that those who fight in ISIS, al-Qaeda, or any number of terrorist organizations do not represent every Muslim in the world.
I can separate Radical Islam - the Islam that declares war against the West, that lines up Christians and kills, that kills Jordanian soldiers by burning them - from that of the majority of Muslims in the world.
I am not afraid to label those individuals as Radical Islamic terrorists. The definition of radical is as follows: (especially of change or action) relating to or affecting the fundamental nature of something; far-reaching or thorough.
ISIS follows a radical form of Islam. The fundamental beliefs that are held by so many Muslims around the world are radically perverted. And yet they call themselves Muslims.
But I am also willing to call the shooting in San Bernardino terrorism. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is officially investigating the incident as an act of terror. The father of the suspected shooter reportedly said he knew his son supported ISIS. The female shooter pledged allegiance to ISIS during the attack. ISIS said supporters carried out the attack. That is terrorism. That is not work place violence. That is not hate speech. That is not intolerance. Those are the facts.
I am tired of you calling Christians and those who worry about the security of America bigots and accusing us of spreading hate speech against Muslims. Don’t you realize that you’re making a blanket statement against us?
And let us not forget that when Robert Dear Jr. shot up a Planned Parenthood clinic many on the left instantly blamed the pro-life movement without all the details. Hold yourself to the same standard. There is a lot evidence to say what happened in California was terrorism.
I am not against taking in refugees - but let us screen them. But for the sake of tolerance we risk letting those who hate America walk right into our country.
But you have no problem with this:
‘Who are they? Are they these extremes conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and they’re the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.” - New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo, 2014
Real tolerance there. Many of those who hate America are pro-assault weapon, pro-bomb, pro-jihad, and anti-gay but let’s welcome them in America with open arms. And don't tell me that terrorists won't find ways to exploit our planned refugee program.
Yours truly,
Bradley Cortright
