GOP president candidate Donald Trump doubled down on his support for Russia's airstrikes in Syria.
"Now they're supposedly hitting ISIS, which is a positive thing," Trump said Tuesday on CNN's "New Day."
"We just get bogged down in the Middle East and Russia will get bogged down in the Middle East," Trump added.
Arizona Senator John McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said on Sunday the real estate mogul did not understand the situation in the Middle East.
President Obama also blasted the Russian airstrikes in Syria that began last week, accusing Russian officials of being indiscriminate in airstrikes against ISIS and U.S. supported Syrian rebels.
Russia said on Monday that its "volunteer" ground forces would join the fight in Syria according to the New York Times.
The Obama Administration has long called for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down.
"I'm sure Assad is a bad guy, but you can have worse," Trump said on CNN. "We're not trusting Russia," he insisted. "You're hurting yourself by watching and waiting."
